FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When are we opening?
Please note we are planning to open in 2025 with Foundation - Year 3.
What are the fees?
At this point, our budgeting suggests fees will be between $14k - $15k per annum. Once we receive our accreditation from NSSAB, and funding approvals, we will, of course, provide precise numbers. We are privileged enough to have a well established mentor, in Woodline Primary, so we know first hand what it costs to run an educational offering of this nature, and do it well.
What can you expect for your child?
You can expect High Trees to feel like a second home for your child. A home which values all of who they are as an individual, and honours their personal learning style. High Trees does not believe in a one-style-fits-all approach, but instead will get to know what lights up your child so that they can be deeply invested in their own learning. You will not have a teacher standing in front of your child telling them at 9:30am that their brain needs to be wired up for learning Maths, and then a bell going off to tell them to wire up their brain for English when they’re potentially still deep in discovery. Instead, you will have a guide standing alongside your child, tapping into their innate curiosity, and weaving maths and english into all that they do. Yes, there will be some explicit learning involved, it is necessary in order to ensure the education your child receives is of a very high standard. But the vast majority of learning will be at your child’s pace, tuning into their personal interests, and done whilst deep in play and discovery. Your child will be encouraged to step out of their comfort zone, discover new things, be brave, take risks. It will get messy, they will get dirty, and they will get wet. You can expect them to have a day filled with joy and laughter, while learning deeply, and for life. We will hold ourselves to a high educational standard. We will consider their emotional intelligence as an equal priority to their academic intelligence. If this sounds like the ultimate form of education to you, then we sound like a good match. We can’t wait to hear from you.
How can you trust that your child will get an equal educational opportunity to that of a traditional school?
Well actually, we’d like to argue that they’ll get a better educational opportunity. We truly believe that in acknowledging your child’s emotional wellness, and educating them in this stunning piece of paradise which simply doesn’t allow for stress, we will help them to tap into the highest part of their learning brain (and be a more well adjusted, happier human at the same time). But why should you trust us, you haven’t even met us. Take a look at Nathan Wallis’ research into how the learning brain actually works. He is just one of the experts we have leant on to develop our passion, the resources page has several more. The power in this style of education is the acknowledgement and welcoming of all of your children’s emotions so that they can move through these emotions, into balance. In balance, their learning brain will be wired for the best possible outcomes. As will their emotional and social wellbeing as they will feel seen, heard, and valued. This requires a large, and dedicated team. As Alfie Kohn says, children learn best when there is collaboration, choice, and curiosity. We honour this at High Trees in our approach to education.
Which educational ages will High Trees Primary cater for?
We will welcome children from what is traditionally known as Prep to Grade 6 (at High Trees Prep will be known as Foundation)
Will all ages be welcome in 2025?
Initially we will open with Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2. We will then add Grade 3 and 4 for 2026, Grade 5 for 2027 and finally complete our rollout with Grade 6 in 2028.
Why should you trust us with the care and growth of your precious child?
When you meet our founders, we hope you won’t even need to ask this question. They are so deeply passionate about this mode of education that they have poured countless hours, and many many more dollars, over the best part of the last 2 years, into tirelessly researching and fine tuning their vision for High Trees. They were driven by a desire for something better than the status quo for their beautiful boy, and they believe they have created it in High Trees. They found Woodline on their quest. Enough said?
So, you’ve made it this far, you probably want to know where you can find us?
We will be located on a beautiful 10 acre property deep in Currumbin Valley. 18 minutes from Currumbin beach. 25 minutes from both the QLD/ NSW border to the South, and Burleigh Heads to the North. Come and meet us, you will never look back.
